<LIBRARY news>

Due to water damage, the books are moved to the upstairs. We are sorry for the inconvenience. 

Opening hours:  Sun & Wed 1-4pm; Thurs 10:30 – 2:30.  Borrowing Limit has been increased to 10 books at a time.

We have a small selection of Japanese books (novels, magazines, etc.) for sale ($1 each. CASH ONLY) at the JCCCM entrance. Available during the office hour. 

<KAIWA LANGUAGE EXCHANGE: Sunday, January 11 & 25(cancelled), 1:30-3:30 pm>

Kaiwa is held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, from 1:30 – 3:30pm. Open to JCCCM members only.  Limited space, no charge – sign up required.  We ask that a minimum level of Japanese is required to participate; JLPT N5 / approx. JCCCM level 2B.  To become a JCCCM member, visit our Membership page. <SENIORS’ DROP-IN: Thursday, January 12, 10:30 am- 2 pm>

All Nikkei and Japanese seniors are welcome! The fee is $10. Please reserve your spot by February 9 by email to Reiko Nakajima <reiko_leojp@yahoo.co.jp> or by phone at 514-728-1996.

Freshly made Japanese sweets and a rice dish are available for takeout or eat-in. All Nikkei seniors are welcomed.

<JAPANESE COMMUNITY CHOIR “UtaOh Kai” : Thursday, January 29, 1 pm-1:45 pm>

No matter your experience, age or gender, anyone can enjoy singing with live piano accompaniment instead of karaoke. Let’s sing Japanese songs that everyone knows, such as seasonal songs, nursery rhymes, and local folk songs, in Japanese. Piano accompaniment: Kanae Nobori. <TEAM ORANGE : Sunday, February 1, noon – 3pm >

The goal of our group is to promote social well-being of the members of the Japanese community, by holding potluck lunches with activities such as crafts, singing/karaoke, etc.  Seniors aged 90 and over, can have lunch at no charge.  Reservations required. <KODOMO CLUB : Friday, January 16 &30, 11 am – 3 pm>

Come join us at Kodomo Club with your little ones! It’s an opportunity for Japanese-speaking families with pre-school aged children to socialize and to exchange various information concerning raising children in Montreal. There will be a Japanese story-time at Kodomo Club this month. Fee $1. For reservation and more info, contact at kodomoclub.montreal@gmail.com

<NATTO AND MISO FOR SALE>

There is a limited quantity of miso ($6), Natto ($4) , Koji ($14) and soya beans (Non-GMO, $8/2kg) available to purchase at the Centre. Due to the popularity of these products, we are limiting sales to JCCCM members only.  CASH ONLY. Please call for details 514-728-1996.
