Memories of Expo ’67: Call for submissions

The JCCCM has recently been approached by a researcher from the University of California concerning the reaction of Japanese-Canadians to the Japanese pavilion at Expo ’67 here in Montreal. Were you there? Please let us know! Read for yourself the note from the researcher:

I am writing an essay about the Japan Pavilion at the Montreal Expo ’67 for the catalogue of an exhibition about Japanese themes in art and visual culture of the Americas that will be held at the Johnson Museum at Cornell University and the Delaware Art Museum.  I am trying to find records of responses to the Japan Pavilion from Japanese Canadians who visited it in Montreal in 1967.  The attendance among Canadians was high and I was wondering if Japanese Canadians might have had a particularly strong curiosity regarding the Japan Pavilion.   If there were any newspapers, magazines, or newsletters published by and for Japanese Canadians in 1967, it occurred to me that they may have published pieces on the Japan Pavilion. Namiko thought you might have some leads for researching this, and if you do, I would really appreciate any thoughts.
Thank you in advance for any reply you may have time for.
Sincerely,
Bert
